In January, Literally will enter its third year of podcasting about great books and guilty pleasures (and more often than not, where the two intersect). We are constructing plans to make the podcast schedule more reliable and hope to diversify into some talk of the television and movies we think exist at the intersection of great production and guilty pleasure. But there are only two of us here at The Institute of Higher Thinking and we both have regular, paying jobs we need to keep the lights on. So, we are actively seeking others with a passion for books, movies and television who might be interested in being part of our podcast. The pay is terrible (there is none) but the company is good and as the Institute grows and expands into podcasts we hope will generate revenue, our new associates will be first in line for the spoils (but don’t plan on quitting a day job anytime soon). We are looking for: • Contributing reviewers for science fiction and fantasy* • A contributing movie critic • A contributing TV critic • A sound engineer for production and post-production Our plan is to go to a twice-monthly schedule beginning in January, meaning a total of 23 episodes a year (December is a one-podcast month). Contributing reviewers will be invited to review 2-3 books a year, while our TV and movie critics will work on a flexible schedule with the goal of 6-10 show appearances a year. We record two or more episodes at a time and try to limit recording sessions to once a month. Distance recording and Skype recording is also a possibility if you do not live in the Savannah/Statesboro, Ga., area. If you’ve ever wanted to try out podcasting, this is your chance. Contact Scott Garner at sgarner@literallyapodcast.com if you’d like to enquire about joining our team. *Including subgenres and not limited to just SF/Fantasy. Thank you for your continued listening!
